The San Francisco Fire moved to within one game of the Championship Series today, downing the Oakland Invaders on the road at Howard Terminal by a score of 5-3. Fire right-hander Erik Ashley had a strong outing. He threw 5.2 innings allowing 1 runs. The win gives the Fire a 2-0 advantage in the best-of-5 Divisional Series.

Nick Drake, the 22-year old center fielder , had a direct impact on the outcome. Drake contributed a run-scoring single in the top of the sixth inning to put San Francisco up, 2-1.

Ashley called the triumph "a good team win."

Game 3 is scheduled for Wednesday at San Francisco Grounds in San Francisco.
