Hex Get One-Run Win at Little Rock
|
Starting pitcher Frank Rivera gave the Providence Hex a rock-solid effort. The Newnan, Georgia native helped his team defeat the Little Rock Golden Gophers, 3-2, at Little Rock Grounds. Rivera yielded 1 run over 6 innings to notch the win. He scattered 5 hits, walked 2, and struck out 7. His record improves to 6-7. Providence is third in the Sub League 1 East Division with a record of 67-55.
Providence used a well-timed hit by Omar Flores to capture the win. The center fielder socked a 2-run double in the top of the third inning to put the Hex ahead, 2-1. Though it was his only hit in 5 at-bats, it was important.
"Frank gets tougher when he has to, makes a big pitch when he has to," said Providence skipper Dave Hale.
