Halifax Extends Series Lead in Low-Scoring Affair
|
The Halifax Heathens moved to within one game of the Championship Series today, downing the Phoenix Gladiators on the road at Gladiators Ballpark by a score of 3-1. Heathens left-hander Jack Ivory had a strong outing. He threw 6.1 innings of shutout ball. The win gives the Heathens a 2-0 advantage in the best-of-5 Divisional Series.
Halifax relied on the bat of Austin Compton to get the win. The third baseman ripped a 3-run home run in the top of the third inning to put the Heathens ahead, 3-0. For the game, Compton had 1 double and 1 home run in 3 at-bats.
"Jack just went about his business, throwing strikes," said Halifax manager David Morris.
Game 3 is scheduled for Thursday at Estadio Azteca in Halifax.
