Fremont Breaks Through for First Win in World Series; Now Trails 2-1
Already down in the World Series, the Fremont Marshalls put on their best show, beating the Hartford Matadors by a final score of 2-0 today. Donnie Marcus was special. He threw 8.1 innings of shutout ball. Fremont now trails Hartford 2-1 in the best-of-7 affair.

Fremont used a timely hit from Joe Carroll to get the win. The catcher stroked a run-scoring double in the top of the seventh inning to put the Marshalls ahead, 1-0. It was his only hit in 3 at-bats, but it made an impact.

"Sometimes a win comes easy," Marcus told the Fremont Bulletin. "And sometimes you have to scratch and claw."

The next game is set to be played tomorrow at Ballpark of Tacoma in Hartford.
