Davies Blasts Marshalls, Matadors Take Game 1, 11-2
The Hartford Matadors started the World Series in dominant fashion today, blowing out the host Fremont Marshalls at Hedgehogs Ballpark by a score of 11-2 and securing an early 1-0 lead in the best-of-7 series. Matadors designated hitter Chris Davies slugged 2 home runs. He drove in 5 runs and scored twice.

Hartford relied on the hitting of Frank Radtke to pick up the win. The catcher clubbed a 2-run home run in the top of the fifth inning to put the Matadors on top, 4-1. For the game, Radtke had 1 home run and 2 singles in 4 at-bats.

"That was a nice win," said Davies. "To quote my grandma, 'Good gravy!'"

The next game is set to be played tomorrow at Hedgehogs Ballpark in Fremont.
