Little Rock took on Providence in front of a lively crowd.

The Little Rock Golden Gophers beat the Providence Hex, 5-2, at Ballpark of Providence. Neil Thomas, in particular, was impressive. He went 2-4 with a home run and a triple, while adding 3 RBI and scoring once. Eddie O'Connor got credit for the save for Little Rock. It was his 6th of the year.

Thomas contributed a big hit, a 3-run home run, for Little Rock in the top of the fourth. With his team trailing 2-0, Thomas took a changeup from Eric Kretzer and stroked the home run to center. His 13th home run of the season allowed the Golden Gophers to leap in front, 3-2.

"We had some nice at-bats at the right time," said Golden Gophers manager Jose Moreno.

Little Rock has an impressive 81-25 record.
