Unicorns Beat Naturals in 11
The Greensboro Naturals could not turn a fine performance from pitcher Danny de Anda into a win. Instead, the Newport Unicorns prevailed, 10-7, in 11 innings. de Anda came in in relief and pitched to 19 batters. Allen D'Amico earned the win in relief. The left-hander allowed 1 run on 2 hits in 2 innings. He upped his record to 3-2. The 4th-place Unicorns have won 4 consecutive games.

The Unicorns beat the Naturals in part due to timely hitting. Case in point: the two-out single John Lendon produced in the top of the 11th. Batting against Edwin Rael, Lendon gave his team the lead, 9-7, when he hit a 2-run single.

"I like how we battled to the end," said Lendon.
