Newport and Greensboro got after it at Naturals Grounds.

Matt Bowden pitched a gem to lead Newport to victory over the Greensboro Naturals, 7-0. The 4th-place Unicorns bumped their record to 50-53.

Newport used the hitting of Kikuji Tanaka to pick up the win. The left fielder clubbed a 3-run home run in the top of the second inning to put the Unicorns on top, 4-0. For the game, Tanaka had 1 home run and 1 single in 5 at-bats.

"I'm happy we won," said Bowden. "That's first and foremost. My goal is for the team to win the day I pitch, however it's done."
