Chanticleers Ballpark was the site of a competitive game between the Newport Unicorns and Providence Hex.

The Providence Hex picked up a win at Chanticleers Ballpark, downing the Newport Unicorns, 5-3. On the mound for Providence was right-hander Erik Dieckman, who played a pivotal role in the win. Dieckman picked up the win for Providence, going 6.2 innings. He gave up 2 runs on 7 hits. He now sports a record of 4-2.

Who knows how it might've ended, had it not been for Willie Flores? The Providence third baseman had a 2-run double in the top of the third inning to put the Hex on top, 4-0. For the game, Flores had 1 double and 1 single in 4 at-bats.

"Erik gave us a heck of an effort," said Providence manager Dave Hale.

The third-place Hex now have a win-loss record of 54-45.
