The Newport Unicorns defeated the Little Rock Golden Gophers, 8-5, at Little Rock Grounds. Seth Gosselin was one of the standouts for Newport. His 2 hits included 1 single and 1 triple -- this in addition to the 2 runs he scored and 2 he knocked in. Lorenzo Martinez, the winner, improved to 7-5. He held the Golden Gophers to 3 runs on 5 hits over 5.1 innings, while striking out 3 and walking 5. Picking up his 1st save was 23-year old right-handed pitcher Justin Hessel.

Early in the game, Gosselin had a run-scoring triple for Newport. It was his 1st triple of the season and put the Unicorns on top, 2-1.

"You know, at the end of the day, it's about who scores the most runs," said Newport manager Victor Sepulveda.

The win gives Newport a season record of 37-36.
