Naturals Win at Little Rock, 5-2
|
Despite a fine performance by shortstop David Anast, the Little Rock Golden Gophers lost to the Greensboro Naturals, 5-2. Anast was 3 for 3 with a home run, a double, and a walk, while adding 2 RBI and scoring once. Damian Garriga snagged the win in relief. He goes to 3-3 on the season. Nick Kern suffered the loss. By defeating Little Rock, the 5th-place Naturals improved to 34-56.
Greensboro used the timely hitting of Chris Elmore to capture the win. The left fielder socked a 3-run home run in the top of the sixth inning to put the Naturals ahead, 4-2. It was his only hit in 4 at-bats, but it was a big one.
"At the end of the day, it's always about your starting pitcher," said Greensboro skipper Nick Kendrick.
