League Championship Series Game 1 Victory for Rivas and Hartford
|
The League Championship Series got off to a quiet start, with the host Hartford Matadors taking a low-scoring, 2-0 win over the Montreal Royals. Hartford left-hander Danny Rivas was marvelous at Ballpark of Tacoma. The Matadors now hold a 1-0 lead in the best-of-7 series.
Rivas was dominant for Hartford. The left-hander allowed no runs on 3 hits, while racking up 10 strikeouts. He threw 105 pitches over 8 innings in the contest.
"This was a nice win for us," said Rivas. "It's one more step toward our ultimate goal."
The next game is set to be played tomorrow at Ballpark of Tacoma in Hartford.
