Detroit Extends Series Lead in Low-Scoring Affair
Their bats were silent and Detroit had a rookie on the mound. No problem.

On a day when the Giants struggled to string together much offense, the club got a big boost from 24-year-old starter Danny Offen. The right-hander quieted the Halifax Heathens at Estadio Azteca to help Detroit take the 3-1 decision and seize a 2-0 advantage in the best-of-7 Divisional Series.

Detroit used the timely hitting of Ryan Forsythe to seize the win. The first baseman stroked a run-scoring single in the top of the eighth inning to put the Giants on top, 2-1. It was his only hit in 5 at-bats, but it was a game-changer.

"Nice win for us," said Offen. "Now we'll go after the next one."

Game 3 is scheduled for Saturday at Ballpark of Detroit in Detroit.
