Road Win Lifts Randolph to 1-0 Lead in CS
The Randolph Prairie Thunder started the League Championship Series in style, winning on the road against the Hickory Crawdads at Crawdad Park by a score of 8-2 to take an early 1-0 lead in the best-of-7 series. Prairie Thunder right-hander Brian Underwood threw 7.2 innings of 6-hit ball.

Randolph relied on the hitting of John Whitney to pick up the win. The shortstop ripped a 2-run triple in the top of the second inning to put the Prairie Thunder on top, 3-0. For the game, Whitney had 1 triple and 1 single in 4 at-bats.

"We'll take some time to unwind," said Whitney, "and then get after it again."

The next game is set to be played tomorrow at Crawdad Park in Hickory.
