Ottawa Earn 6-2 Victory at Warlocks Grounds
|
The Ottawa Lynx cut down the Waco Warlocks by the score of 6-2, with the largest share of the credit going to left fielder Mark Thompson. Thompson went 3 for 5 with a home run and a triple, while scoring 2 runs and driving in 3 for the Lynx. Marco Garcia earned the win in relief. The right-hander allowed 1 run on 2 hits in 3 innings. He upped his record to 3-0. At 56-30, Ottawa is in second place in the Sub League 1 East Division.
Ottawa used a clutch at-bat from Roger Gotsch to capture the win. The designated hitter hammered a 3-run home run in the top of the first inning to put the Lynx ahead, 4-0. It was his lone hit in 4 at-bats, but it was a humdinger.
"I thought we played a nice game," Gotsch told the Ottawa Citizen. "Good pitching, timely hitting, it was all there."
