Lemos Helps Unicorns Defeat Paints, 7-4
The Newport Unicorns grabbed a win, 7-4, over the Aurora Paints at Chanticleers Ballpark. Newport shortstop Jose Lemos was 3 for 5 with a home run and 2 singles, while scoring 2 and driving in 4. Alan Trovato was the winner. He's now 1-0. The loser was 17-year old left-handed pitcher Brayden Snell. Gary Lutz sewed up the save, his 12th.

Lemos contributed a big hit, a grand slam home run, for Newport in the bottom of the second. With his team trailing 2-1, Lemos took a sinker from Brayden Snell and stroked the home run to left. His 7th home run of the season allowed the Unicorns to leap in front, 5-2.

"Some of the guys in here work hard, some of the guys just kind of fall out of bed and get it done. Whatever works I guess, we won this one," Lemos told the Newport Daily.

By defeating Aurora, the second-place Unicorns improved to 31-29.
