Desperados, Flyers Play 15 to Settle Game 1, Santa Rosa Now Leads Series 1-0
When the games really matter, the Santa Rosa Desperados put on their best show, beating the Newark Flyers by a final score of 4-3. Nate Ray came in in relief and pitched to 21 batters. Santa Rosa now leads Newark 1-0 in the best-of-7 affair.

The defining moment came in the bottom of the 15th for Santa Rosa. That's when Jason Finch hit a run-scoring double off 22-year old right-handed pitcher Aaron Wakefield to win the game. The home crowd went wild.

"They say the first rule of the playoffs is to win the home games," Finch said afterward. "It feels nice, but it is kind of what we were supposed to do."

The next game is set to be played tomorrow at Keelhaulers Ballpark in Santa Rosa.
