Montreal Breaks Through for First Win in Division Series; Now Trails 2-1
The Montreal Royals have closed some of the gap between themselves and the series-leading Portland Mad Ants, winning, 5-3, at Mad Ants Ballpark. Royals right-hander Tom Rise threw 8.0 innings allowing 3 runs. The win cuts the deficit facing the Royals to 2-1 in the best-of-7 Division Series.

Montreal used a clutch at-bat from Dashawn Carter to capture the win. The center fielder hammered a 2-run home run in the top of the second inning to put the Royals ahead, 3-1. It was his lone hit in 4 at-bats, but it was a humdinger.

"It's nice to deliver when your team's counting on you," said Carter.

The next game is set to be played tomorrow at Mad Ants Ballpark in Portland.
