Royals Hammered by Kirchner, Drop Game 1 to Mad Ants

The Portland Mad Ants started the Division Series in style, winning on the road against the Montreal Royals at Turtles Ballpark by a score of 9-3 to take an early 1-0 lead in the best-of-7 series. Mad Ants center fielder Pat Kirchner excelled. He was 1-3 with a home run and 2 walks, while scoring 2 times and driving in 3.
A key moment came with two out in the top of the second. That's when Kirchner hit a cutter from George Wilson for a 3-run home run, putting Portland up, 5-2.
"Every team in baseball loses," Royals manager Bobby White said. "We're in the playoffs and we still have the same guys that got us here. We'll bounce back."
The next game is set to be played tomorrow at Turtles Ballpark in Montreal.
