Matadors Advance to League Championship Series
|
The Hartford Matadors "proved we can handle pressure" by beating the Division Series and eliminating the Baxter Springs Marshals, according to series MVP Chris Davies.
"This is the big stage, we're off to the League Championship Series and looking towards the World Series," he said. "There's a lot of pressure at this time of year and it's only going to get more intense from here. But I think we can handle it just fine."
Hartford won the final game 8-4, to wrap up the series 4-2.
Davies led his team to the series win by putting up a .300 average, with a .391 on-base percentage. He had 1 home runs, drove in 3 RBI and scored 1 runs.
The Hartford Matadors don't know who they will face in the next round. They will play the winner of the Portland Mad Ants - Montreal Royals series. That series is tied at 3 games apiece. The League Championship Series schedule will be announced after the Division Series finishes.
