Williams, Saint Pierre and Miquelon Open CS Strong with 3-1 Win
Their bats were silent and Saint Pierre and Miquelon had a rookie on the mound. No problem.

On a day when the Pirates struggled to string together much offense, the club got a big boost from 19-year-old starter Travis Williams. The right-hander quieted the Buffalo Bellflowers at Spinners Ballpark to help Saint Pierre and Miquelon take the 3-1 decision and seize a 1-0 advantage in the best-of-7 League Championship Series.

Allen Baker drew 1 walk in 2 trips to the plate for Saint Pierre and Miquelon. With two out and the game tied in the bottom of the eighth inning, Baker, who was drafted in the 2nd round of the 2018 draft, had a clutch at-bat. Facing Buffalo hurler Matt Drayton, he drew a walk, driving in 1 run to give the Pirates a 2-1 lead.

"Postseason wins taste oh so sweet," said Williams after the game.

The next game is set to be played tomorrow at Spinners Ballpark in Saint-Pierre-des-Corps.
