The home team was supported by a raucous crowd at Ballpark of Medford.
Starting pitcher Josh Poehlein pitched well enough to help the Medford Desperados beat the Newport Unicorns, 7-5. Earning the save was Danny Garcia. He's now cashed in 4 of 5 save opportunities.
The Desperados got a big at-bat from right fielder Arturo Tinoco. For the game, Tinoco was 1 for 3 with a double and was hit by a pitch. He drove in 2 runs. In the bottom of the third, with the bases loaded, he stroked a 2-run double. His 5th double of the season gave Medford a 5-3 lead.
