Dollywood Partons manager Adam Freeman wasn't expecting much from the rookie playing in his first postseason. Maybe he should have been.

In front of a supportive hometown crowd, 22-year-old first baseman Chris Pierson humbled the visiting Weedpatch Widowmakers at Dolly Parton Ballpark. Pierson went 3-4 with 2 home runs as the Partons shut out the Widowmakers by a final score of 5-0, to give Dollywood a 2-0 advantage in the best-of-7 Division Series.

Jim Dauphin cracked a home run off Jeremy Sharpe in the bottom of the first. His 3-run blast put the Partons on top, 3-0. In all, Dauphin had 1 single in addition to the home run, while going 2 for 4.

"It's nice to step up when your team needs you," said Dauphin.

The next game is set to be played for Tuesday, September 14th , 2021 at Widowmakers Ballpark in Weedpatch.
