Unicorns Use Late-Game Magic to Beat Naturals, 8-7
|
Ismael Ramos was a major factor in the 8-7 Newport win over Greensboro. The Unicorns catcher went 4 for 5 with a home run and 3 singles, while scoring 2 and driving in 3. The loss makes Greensboro 26-43.
The game was decided with two out in the bottom of the ninth. With Newport trailing 7-6, Ramos jumped on a fastball from 23-year old right-handed pitcher Jim Unknown and hit a 2-run home run to left. With one swing, the Unicorns had a walk-off win.
"This stadium was a-rockin'," said Ramos.
