Little Rock turned a good effort from starter Brad Martin into a win over the Julian Jammers at Little Rock Grounds. The Golden Gophers won the game, 7-1. Little Rock goes to 59-12. The win puts them 11½ games up in their division.

The Jammers had been locked in a 1-1 tie with the Golden Gophers going into the bottom of the fourth inning. That changed quickly when the 21-year old first baseman Bobby Barnes came to the plate. Barnes hit a 3-run home run on a 0-2 slider from Julian hurler John McClements. It was Barnes's 12th home run of the year.

"It's about putting our team in the best position to win ballgames," said Martin.
