Almost There: Ft. Wayne On Cusp of CS Triumph After 4-2 Win
The Ft. Wayne Earthquakes moved to within one game of the World Series, downing the Riverside Wolverines on the road at Wolverines Ballpark by a score of 4-2. Earthquakes right-hander Nick Kern had a strong outing. He threw 5.0 innings of 3-hit ball. The win gives the Earthquakes a 3-1 advantage in the best-of-7 League Championship Series.

Steve Conrad had a direct impact on the outcome. Conrad contributed a solo home run in the top of the sixth inning to put Ft. Wayne up, 3-2.

Conrad said his team "played with focus."
