Jacksonville Extends Series Lead in Low-Scoring Affair
|
Their bats were silent and Jacksonville had a rookie on the mound. No problem.
On a day when the Nationals struggled to string together much offense, the club got a big boost from 20-year-old starter Bob Rehm. The left-hander quieted the Riverside Wolverines at Wolverines Ballpark to help Jacksonville take the 3-1 decision and seize a 2-0 advantage in the best-of-7 Division Series.
In his 75-pitch effort, Rehm allowed no runs on 1 hit over 5.1 innings. He walked 2 and struck out 8.
"Bob's not intimidated by who's stepping into the batter's box," said Jacksonville manager Zack Glomski.
Game 3 is scheduled for Sunday at Nationals Park in Jacksonville.
