Ft. Wayne Extends Series Lead in Low-Scoring Affair
|
Riding the 2-hit performance of designated hitter Justin Dawson, the Ft. Wayne Earthquakes stopped the visiting Riverside Wolverines, 3-1, in Game 2 of the League Championship Series. Dawson was 2 for 2 with a home run and a walk for the Earthquakes, who now lead the best-of-7 series, 2 games to 0.
Jim Henkemeyer, who was drafted in the 2nd round of the 2021 draft, contributed to the Ft. Wayne win with a solo home run in the bottom of the sixth. For the game, the third baseman had 2 hits in 4 at-bats with 1 home run, 1 single, 1 run scored, and 1 RBI.
"Can't say enough about our pitching," said Dawson.
The next game is set to be played for Sunday, September 18th , 2022 at Wolverines Ballpark in Riverside.
