Unicorns Grind Out 2-1 Win
|
The Newport Unicorns picked up a win at Chanticleers Ballpark, dropping the Little Rock Golden Gophers, 2-1. Logan Gustin, who leads the SL1 in complete games with 1, was the difference-maker. Alex Almanza earned the save, his 1st. The loss makes Little Rock 32-9.
John Lendon had a critical at-bat with no one out in the bottom of the seventh for Newport. He came through with a run-scoring single to put Newport in front, 2-0.
"We busted our tails," said Little Rock manager Michael Kelleher. "But we came up short."
