Behind an impressive start by Jonathan Weaver, Newport beat Aurora, 7-2. The winner was Weaver. He threw 5.2 innings of 4-hit ball. The loser was Kyle Campbell. Gabe Rubio recorded his 1st save for Newport.

John Aiello had a big 2-run double for the Unicorns in the bottom of the third inning. With Newport leading 1-0 and runners on 2nd and 3rd, he got a fastball from 18-year old right-handed pitcher Kyle Campbell and swatted a double to right-center. It was his 9th double of the season, and more importantly, it put the Unicorns ahead, 3-0.

"It's not about individual awards," Aiello told a Newport Observer reporter after the game. "It's about winning championships. That's what we play for."

Newport now sports a record of 21-37.
