Getting a good performance from left fielder David Short, the Aurora Paints defeated the Newport Unicorns, 9-4. Short went 2-5 with 2 home runs and a walk for the Paints. Aurora goes to 19-38, Newport to 20-37.

Manuel Cortez, who is tied for 9th in the SL1 in triples with 2, took Newport hurler Ivan Sanchez deep in the top of the second. His 3-run home run put the Paints on top, 3-1. In all, Cortez had 1 single in addition to the home run, while going 2 for 5.

"We had some nice at-bats at the right time," said Paints manager Michael Wright.
