The inspired effort of Tacoma center fielder Doug Grimm was not enough to prevent a loss, 14-13, to the Providence Hex. Grimm belted 3 home runs. He drove in 9 runs and scored three times. The winner was Jordan Carreon in relief. His record improves to 1-0. Jim Unknown took the loss. With the win, Providence pushed its record to 23-10.

The Hex were down to their last out in the bottom of the ninth inning, when 22-year old left fielder Justin Wish landed a big blow. He turned a 1-0 curveball from Jim Unknown into a 2-run single. The walk-off single sent the Ballpark of Providence denizens into a frenzy and sent the Hex home with a thrilling 14-13 win.

"It was a good night for them and a bad night for us," said Tacoma manager Alfonso Estrada.
