A jubilant David Erb joined the postgame press conference at Baylor Ballpark today to offer some unusual words of encouragement -- for the Iowa State Cyclones pitching staff he had just vanquished.

"It may not have looked like it," said the Baylor Bears left fielder, "but I saw some awful good pitches today. If luck hadn't been on my side it might have turned out a lot different."

That would not have been the conclusion of anyone who saw his dominant 5-for-5 hitting performance, which led the Bears to a 14-9 win.

"He made it look easy," said Ryan Savage, manager of the Cyclones. "We never figured out what to do with him. Obviously."

David Erb singled in the 2nd, hit an RBI single in the 4th, singled in the 5th, singled in the 6th and doubled in the 8th.

Looking at his stats this year, Erb has compiled a .345 batting average, while hitting 1 home run and driving in 14 runs. He has played in 33 games and scored 23 runs.
