|
The Long Island Torpedoes topped the Franklin Cubs, 5-3, at Centerville Grounds. Long Island pinch hitter Earl Leason was a spark plug for the offense. He was 1-1 with a home run. He drove in 3 runs and scored once. The winning pitcher was Raul Sauceda. He tossed 104 pitches over 6.2 innings, allowing 3 runs on 5 hits. Mike Hall finished to wrap up his 14th save.
Leason had a timely hit for Long Island in the bottom of the sixth. With Long Island trailing 3-2, he turned a 1-2 fastball into a 3-run home run. It was his 18th home run of the season, making it 5-3, Long Island.
