The Long Island Torpedoes downed the Buffalo Bellflowers, 7-1, at Wegman's Field. Stellar pitching by Raul Sauceda had a lot to do with it. The right-hander handcuffed his opponent all game. The victory puts Long Island at 52-86.

Ieyoshi Shimizu had a big 2-run home run for the Torpedoes in the top of the second inning. With Long Island leading 1-0 and a runner on 2nd, he sized up a fastball from Keith Carter, who is tied for 5th in the NC in quality starts with 17, and punished it. The result was his 3rd home run of the season, which put the Torpedoes on top, 3-0.

"We can always improve and get better, but we're feeling confident after that win," said Shimizu.
