Covington Now 4-2 Following 3-0 Win
|
Whitby turned a good effort from starter Branden Covington into a win over the Abingdon Archers at Reagor Dykes Stadium. The final score was 3-0. Steve McManus picked up the save for Whitby, his 3rd of the year. The victory gives the Bats a record of 79-59.
The standout performance belonged to 19-year-old Covington. With his baby face, he looked more like someone starting for a high school team than for the Bats. His performance, however, was nothing short of top-notch. The youngster dominated the Archers, striking out 9 and scattering 2 hits over 8 innings. Covington is now 4-2 on the season.
"Branden was really on it," said Whitby manager David Sawyers. "He's got a feel for playing with the hitter front-to-back, side-to-side."
