Late Magic Gets Moncton 6-4 Win
Whitby got a decent performance from pitcher Danny Cortez, but it wasn't enough to beat the Moncton Mounties. Moncton won the Eláguila Stadia contest, 6-4. Cortez threw 5.2 innings of 3-hit ball for the losing team. The winner in relief was Juan Gutierrez. The right-hander allowed no runs on 2 hits in 2 innings. He now owns a record of 7-10. With the win, the Mounties have a record of 73-56.

Moncton used the clutch hitting of J.R. Daniels to snag the win. The pinch hitter drilled a 2-run home run in the top of the ninth inning to put the Mounties ahead, 6-4. It was his lone hit in 1 at-bat, but it was a crucial one.

"Nice win for us," said Daniels. "Now we'll go after the next one."
