The Tiverton Colonels earned a close win over the Moncton Mounties, thanks in part to Jim Unknown. The Tiverton right-hander played a key role in the 3-2 victory. The winning pitcher was Unknown, now 1-0. He tossed 7 innings of 4-hit ball, while walking 3 and fanning 2. Their 64-65 record puts the Colonels 4th in the Northern Conference East Division.
Tiverton used a well-timed hit by Jeffrey Torres to capture the win. The right fielder socked a run-scoring double in the top of the second inning to put the Colonels ahead, 1-0. Though it was his only hit in 4 at-bats, it was important.
"It's nice to step up when your team needs you," said Torres.
