The Whitby Bats easily defeated the Long Island Torpedoes, 20-4, at Centerville Grounds, with designated hitter Ben Leonardi a main contributor to the win. He belted 2 home runs. He scored 3 times and drove in 10 for Whitby. The Bats now have a record of 81-45.

Joe Gillis dealt the Torpedoes a blow in the top of the second. Batting with the bases loaded and Whitby leading 2-1, Gillis, who is tied for 6th in the NC in stolen bases with 20, hit a 1-1 slider for a run-scoring single.

"There's a lot of good karma around our club," said winning manager David Sawyers.
