Bellflowers Drop Close One Late
|
Pitching was the name of the game in a tight contest between the Franklin Cubs and the Buffalo Bellflowers. Franklin won it, 1-0. Franklin starter Paul Dolezal was in command. Doug Voeller was credited with the save. He has now successfully converted 6 of 6 save opportunities. The 5th-place Cubs are now 57-66, the Bellflowers 71-52.
Franklin needed the clutch hitting of Paul Dankenbring to seal the deal. The designated hitter swatted a solo home run in the top of the ninth inning to put the Cubs on top, 1-0. For the game, Dankenbring had 1 home run and 2 singles in 4 at-bats.
"We just didn't score enough runs to win," said Buffalo manager Andy Perez.
