The home crowd came to cheer on their first-place Saint Pierre and Miquelon Pirates.

The Long Island Torpedoes took it on the chin, losing, 12-2, to the Saint Pierre and Miquelon Pirates. Kyle DeVries, who is tied for 7th in the NC in strikeouts with 114, pitched a strong game for Saint Pierre and Miquelon. DeVries, now 9-4, was the winner. In 6.2 innings, he gave up 6 hits, while striking out 10, walking 2, and allowing no runs.

Saint Pierre and Miquelon got a lift in the bottom of the second from shortstop Sam Paiva, who hit a fastball to left for a 2-run home run. His 12th home run of the season put the Pirates up, 2-0.

"I made some pitches when I had to," said DeVries.

Saint Pierre and Miquelon improves to 96-28 with the win. They lead their division by 21½ games.
