Mounties Grind Out 2-1 Win

The Moncton Mounties defeated the Borrego Springs Rams, 2-1, in Northern Conference action at Mapleton Yards. Moncton pitcher Steve Shewmaker had a standout performance. With the win, Moncton pushed its record to 64-58.
The Rams had been locked in a 1-1 tie with the Mounties going into the bottom of the fourth inning. That changed quickly when the 19-year old second baseman Keith Connelly came to the plate. Connelly hit a run-scoring double on a 1-1 splitter from Borrego Springs hurler Randy Lupton. It was Connelly's 8th double of the year.
In comments to the Moncton Daily, Shewmaker admitted that he doesn't always push himself. "But the results," he said, "speak for themselves."
