Shafer Propels Moncton Offense in 12-3 Rout
Moncton left fielder Danny Shafer was instrumental in helping the Mounties triumph, 12-3, over the Whitby Bats. Shafer was 2-3 with a home run, a double, and 2 walks, while scoring 3 times and driving in 4. The win was credited to Vito Goretti in relief. His record improves to 2-3. Sergio Hernandez took the loss. The Mounties improved to a lofty 96-25.

Shafer contributed a big hit, a 2-run double, for Moncton in the bottom of the fifth. With his team trailing 3-2, Shafer took a fastball from Sergio Hernandez and stroked the double to right. His 37th double of the season allowed the Mounties to leap in front, 4-3.

"I'm just looking to see the ball, hit the ball," said Shafer.
