Led by Danny Shafer, the Moncton Mounties defeated the Whitby Bats, 10-7. Shafer, a native of West Memphis, Arkansas, went 4-5 with 2 home runs and a triple, while scoring 3 and driving in 3 for the Mounties. Alex Gonzalez earned the win after being summoned from the bullpen. The right-hander allowed 3 runs on 7 hits in 2.1 innings. He upped his record to 9-2. Diego Garcia earned the save for Moncton.

Had Rich Miklavcic not delivered a key base hit in the bottom of the eighth, the outcome might have been different. Instead, with two down and runners on 2nd and 3rd, Miklavcic hit a 2-run single. That made the score 7-5, in favor of the Mounties.

"I like the makeup of this team," said Mounties manager Johnny Hoffman.

Moncton, at 95-25, is 20½ games up in the Northern Conference East Division.
