The Moncton Mounties topped the Long Island Torpedoes, 11-4, at Mapleton Yards. Moncton first baseman Bruce Elrod was a spark plug for the offense. He went 2 for 4 with a home run. He drove in 4 runs and scored once. The Mounties have now reeled off 6 straight wins.

Elrod contributed a big hit, a 3-run home run, for Moncton in the bottom of the fourth. With his team trailing 4-3, Elrod took a sinker from Steve Quintero and stroked the home run to left-center. His 5th home run of the season allowed the Mounties to leap in front, 6-4.

"This team is real focused right now," said Moncton manager Kevin Squillace.
