The Whitby Bats picked up a win at Eláguila Stadia, downing the Long Island Torpedoes, 6-4. On the mound for Whitby was right-hander Keith Price, who played a pivotal role in the win. Price, the winner, moves to 6-2. He threw 7 innings of 3-hit ball, while fanning 4 and giving up 2 walks. The Northern Conference West Division-leading Bats have a record of 90-24.
Whitby took a 5-4 lead on John Austin's 9th home run of the season. The 3-run home run, which Austin hit in the bottom of the seventh, left Long Island pitcher Juan Rodriguez visibly frustrated.
"Hitting, winning. It's just contagious," said Price.
