The Borrego Springs Rams took Long Island pitcher Raul Sauceda's best shot and still were able to claim a win at Club Circle Park. The final score had Borrego Springs getting past the Torpedoes, 4-3. Sauceda went 6 innings and allowed no runs, striking out 5. The Torpedoes, now 41-68, have lost 9 straight.

Had Mike MacPherson not delivered a key base hit in the bottom of the eighth, the outcome might have been different. Instead, with two down and the bases loaded, MacPherson hit a run-scoring single. That made the score 4-3, in favor of the Rams.

"We just can't get over the hump," said losing manager Victor Sepulveda.
