Whitby Makes It 8 Straight with 1-0 Win
|
The Whitby Bats picked up a win at Eláguila Stadia, knocking off the Moncton Mounties, 1-0. On the mound for Whitby was right-hander Marty Matthews. He played a key role in the triumph. Whitby has now reeled off 8 straight wins.
Whitby got a knockout punch from Justin Cole. The pinch hitter hammered a solo home run in the bottom of the ninth inning to win the game. It might've been his only hit, but it decided the outcome.
"Both teams played hard," said Whitby manager David Sawyers.
