Paiva Leads Pirates to Win
The home team was supported by a raucous crowd at Spinners Ballpark.

The Saint Pierre and Miquelon Pirates dumped the Whitby Bats, 8-4, in large part due to shortstop Sam Paiva. On the day, Paiva went 3 for 3 with a home run, a double, and a walk, while adding 3 RBI and scoring once for the Pirates. Saint Pierre and Miquelon starter Kyle DeVries was credited with the win after throwing 89 pitches over 7 innings. His record now stands at 8-4.

The Pirates got an important contribution from designated hitter Brad Malasky, who in the bottom of the third hit a changeup to right for a solo home run. It was his 22nd home run of the season and put the Pirates ahead, 2-0.

"It's nice to see a lot of guys make contributions," said Pirates manager Freddy Coss.

The Pirates improved to a lofty 85-24.
