Bats Topple Pirates with Late Rally
The Saint Pierre and Miquelon Pirates got a sterling performance from pitcher Travis Williams, but the Whitby Bats still prevailed, 7-4. Williams threw 6.0 innings of 3-hit ball. Jon Messer got the save, his 4th in 4 chances. The Bats now have a record of 69-39 with the win over Saint Pierre and Miquelon.

The most important at-bat for Whitby came in the top of the ninth inning, when center fielder Brian Ericson stroked a 0-1 fastball to right-center for a 2-run single, putting Whitby up, 6-4.

In postgame comments to the Whitby Times, Ericson said, "If the effort is there, the wins will come."
